Beer Name: Melvin the Mammoth (Goes to Jamaica)
Style: Theoretical Barleywine aged in rye barrels
ABV: 8.1%
Color: Deep tawny amber, tinged with ruby highlights
Cheese Pairing: Moses Sleeper
Food Pairing: Schweinshaxe
Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): : "You've Never Been Right" by the Melvins
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "Bride of Crankenstein" by the Melvins
Best Occasion to Drink: while catching up with some knuckleheads from back in the day
Brewers' Notes: We brewed Melvin with longevity in mind and he's spent the last dang ol' year or so goin' on a vacation! This time around, Melvin spent a stint in a rum barrel* where he gained perspective on the world at large and (more importantly) some deep oaky/woody notes (we're told that these are called "lactones," in case you want to try and sound like you know Wood Science) and just a smidge of a tang and whoo nelly is it tasty!
* We're not 100% sure it was a Jamaican rum barrel, but "Melvin Goes to Jamaica" is a cool name so we just rolled with it.
