Beer Name: Rakau

Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): "Gypsy Heart" by the Red Elvises
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "The Final Countdown" by Europe
Best Occasion to Drink: While leaving dramatically and flipping everyone off as you go.
Brewers' Notes: After months of denial, it's finally time for us to say Goodbye Forever to one of our favorite-ever hops: Mass-grown* Rakau! We've been brewing with this fruity little bastard since the Very Beginning - it was part of Wasted Life (our once and former flagship IPA) for years, and it was prominently featured in one of our first-ever non-flagship recurring beers (remember Bullhead? I miss Bullhead) and honestly we took every opportunity we could get to cram this sucker into every beer we could. But the fact remains that Rakau is a Kiwi hop at heart, and it turns out that (at least from a farming perspective) Massachusetts is basically nothing like New Zealand and that means it really does not want to grow here. And so! We took the last of our remaining Rakau and bid it a tearful farewell and put it all into this delicious-ass grisette and now you can bid it goodbye with us and/or have some tasty pints!
* The character of hop varieties changes wildly depending on where they're grown. Wine geeks refer to this as "terroir," which translates to "dirt." Do with that what you will.
