Beer Name: Menagerie
Style: Barrel-Aged Smoked Dark Saison
ABV: 8.5%
Color: Walnut (the lumber, not the nut)
Cheese Pairing: Smoked mozzarella
Food Pairing: Spice cake (carrot cake acceptable)
Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): "Start Wearing Purple" by Gogol Bordello
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "No Vampires Remain in Romania" by King Luan
Best Occasion to Drink: While trying to invent new foods by combining existing foods. Shove a hot dog into some fried chicken! Put a hamburger patty in between two pizza bagels! Take some brussels sprouts and throw them away because brussels sprouts are terrible!
Brewers' Notes: As the nights start to turn colder, the mind wanders to fanciful notions of sitting in front of the fireplace with a snifter of cognac. But since we're not the sort of people who can "afford" a fireplace (or cognac), we decided to blend up a beer that conjures the same sort of cozy feeling - a fruity, smoky, warming, caramelly, slightly roasty beer that's somehow both dry *and* sweet. It's a beer that tastes just as good out of a snifter by the fireplace as it does out of a bottle-in-a-paper bag in front of a trashcan fire and we invite you to enjoy!
