Beer Name: Pre-Boil Dave
Style: Smoked Black Ale with a Dash of Maple Syrup
ABV: 5.8%
Color: I mean, we're calling it a "black ale," there's not much else to describe here
Cheese Pairing: Smoked Emmental, if you can get it
Food Pairing: Chicken parm
Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): "Feelgood Formula" by Dozer
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "Hajnal" by Venetian Snares
Best Occasion to Drink: As you start to realize that you probably should have prepared, at all, for the public speaking you're about to do.
Brewers' Notes: You've probably seen a handful of Black Ale Project beers over the past few years (we've made a few ourselves), but odds are medium-to-good you haven't heard a whole hell of a lot about Dave, who is the heart and soul of the Black Ale Project. Long story short, he's the one who organizes and coordinates all the brewdays and selflessly volunteers his time helping out on brewdays (and you know brewers give him the dirty work. Don't worry about him sweating into the mash tun though, that's all pre-boil so it's fine) and even more selflessly volunteers to drink a bunch of beer at any release events that might be happening.
Anyway, we figured we'd give a little tip o' the hat to Dave for all his efforts bringing this project to life, so we took our straight-up black ale and goosed it up with a buncha peachwood smoked malt (from our friends at New York Craft Malt) and tossed in a touch of maple syrup for balance and we think you gon' enjoy!
