In Which There Are Hangs! With Bands!

Howdy all! We're back in action with more fun times than you can shake a stick at, even if you're particularly talented at stick-shaking. Anyway we've given ourselves quite the set of expectations to live up to, so let's get to it!

In case you were wondering how our "staff meeting" went on Sunday

First on up is our trusty cask! This Thursday we'll be tappin' up a pin of a fast-favorite around here and that's On-On! And we figured a nice 'n light base beer would provide the perfect backdrop for some fun-as-hell new(ish)-to-us hops so we crammed a buncha Vista in there too and it's gonna be tasty and you should come have some!

And while we're talkin' about things that are tasty, we're excited to announce our newest band collab (and our first new beer release in, like, a week): Man Overboard! This one's a collaboration with our new friends in North Star the Wanderer and when we originally met with them they had a buncha big-picture ideas about the beer evoking images of storm-tossed seas and all that, and we're all about stuff like that so we brought them in for a blending session (because of course this beer had to be a barrel-aged blend, what else could it be?) and after a whole dang bunch of tasting and blending and debating the merits of one blend vs. another (which honestly involved less shouting than you might expect), we arrived at this tasty-ass blend that's on tap and in bottles on Friday and you should come try some!

Tread carefully with this one... there's a non-zero chance someone will have a few pints and get lost down by the Malden River or something, shouting about shipwrecks I dunno

And speaking of North Star the Wanderer, as luck* would have it they'll be at our Band Hangouts event on Friday! They'll be joining three other bands (Worshipper, Conclave, and Z28) who are all gonna be hangin' out in the taproom all evening and slingin' merch and generally just havin' a good time and you should come join us!

And since we're (still) talkin' about Friday, on Friday evening we're also gonna have Mr. Tamole in the house! He'll be dishin' up tamales all evening and also I really hope that he's bringing his mole chicken because holy hell it is so good. We (your humble bloggers) bought like a couple gallons of it last time and we ran out much faster than I'm willing to admit.

And then on Saturday we've got a popup we ain't seen in a dang ol' minute and that's The Crypt! They'll be in the house dishin' up some horror-themed sandwiches and also some delicious-sounding beignets and if you're a fan of tasty snackin' you should come say hi!

We'd also like to take the time to remind you about our regularly-scheduled Barks 'n Brews Pint Parties on Sundays and Tuesdays, where we encourage you to come out with your furry friends and we'll be donating a portion of the proceeds to a different animal-themed charity every month (starting in May it's Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury) and we'll start having Blanche's Ice Cream every Tuesday in May (which is... this week? How is it May already) and it's a great way to drink beer for a good cause, so grab your pups and come on by!

And speaking of Tuesday, this Tuesday we've got Matt Heaton comin' by for Surf Guitar Happy Hour! So if the dogs and ice cream weren't enough to entice you out, there's also gonna be surf rock! And since surf rock has been clinically proven to be the ideal daytime/evening drinkin' music, you'd really be doing yourself a disservice if you missed out!

But getting back to recurring events for a moment, it's worth mentioning that we are still hosting sushi classes on the regular, only the schedule for said classes has become a bit more irregular/erratic now that the weather's warming up a bit, so keep an eye on them event dates if you're lookin' to sign up!

And for those of you lookin' a bit further into the future, next weekend is our Dungeons & Drinks weekend! We're doin' up a buncha nerd/geek-centric stuff all weekend long and we (being nerds/geeks ourselves) are quite stoked about it! On Thursday our regularly-scheduled music trivia night Audio Triviality will be turnin' their focus on Star Wars! And then on Friday there's gonna be retro video games to play (courtesy of Wicked Retro) and games/game-themed items for sale (courtesy of Wicked Gaming) and also a buncha collectibles and funkos and stuff (courtesy of Lax Card Collectibles)! And then cappin' off the event on Saturday we'll be running a D&D one-shot in the side room (or rather, an experienced DM will be running it, we personally have unfortunately dungeoned very few dragons in our time) and we'll have a whole boatload of comic artists/authors and also at least one artist that isn't affiliated with a comic as far as we know but his art is rad and anyway that list is: KC Green (Gunshow, He is a Good Boy, This is Fine), Andrew MacLean (Head Lopper, ApocalypiGirl, LaserWolfAttack), Ansis Puriņš (Super Magic Forest, Craft Beer & Brewing Mag), and Adam Cutler (Monday Mosh Monsters) and they'll be hangin' out and sellin' merch and anyway it's gonna be hella fun and you should join us!

In Which We Get Our Purple Drink On

Howdy friends! We've got a whole heckin' bunch of cool stuff lined up for y'all this week and we'll be gettin' to that in due time, but first we'd like to give a quick shoutout/thanks to our new friends from Scattered Remnants for comin' out to the release of Scatterbräu! We always get jazzed when bands come hang out for beer releases, and it was hella fun hanging out with them!

Anyway, on to buisness. First and/or foremost we gots to mention that we are closing early (at 5PM) this Sunday for a staff meeting.*

And speaking of meetings, we're tappin' up a cask this week! Yes indeedy, on Thursday we've got tried-and-true cask favorite Shut Up Kelly goin' on the ol' beer engine and pourin' until she kicks!

And it might be the last Kelly cask for a little while... we don't exactly brew this beer often during the warm months. Just sayin'

And dang but if that ain't the most of it on the beer front, on account of how this is the first week in a dang ol' while that we don't have a new beer release!

Oh wait no oh crap that's right! I totally forgot! This week (specifically Friday, though it'll probably be on draft at some point on Thursday) marks the glorious return of Henrietta to the beer menu! Our beloved spring/summer seasonal - a farmhouse brewed with, just, so much hibiscus - is gonna be on tap and in cans and you should come drink some!

And movin' right on along to all the fun times we've got to pair with those tasty beers, this Thursday we've got a Very Special trivia night! More to the point, this week's trivia is themed around It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and we've got some cool** prizes for the winners and it's gonna be a buncha fun and you should come hang out!

And speaking of new-to-us fun times in the taproom, this Friday we're hosting our first-ever comedy show! We've got Al Ghanekar and friends settin' up in the side room and it's gonna be a barrel o' laughs so if you wanna get your giggle on, grab a ticket and come out!

And movin' further into the weekend, we've got tasty food! More to the point, we've got HotChix in the house on Saturday and they'll be cookin' up some of their delicious chicken sandwiches until they run out, so come grab one!

And then on Sunday we've got yet another new-to-us event goin' on in the taproom and this one's coffee themed! We've got our friends from Triple Crown and Aero Coffee Roasters comin' through and settin' up shop and probably pouring some samples and/or steaming mugs o' joe and also we'll have BiscuitDrop in the house with their delicious-ass biscuit-themed brunchables and it's really just gonna be a great way to spend a Sunday!

And since we're talking about great things to do on Sunday, this Sunday is another installment in our biweekly Barks & Brews Pint Parties! Long story short, we're encouraging you to bring your four-legged friends out to the beer garden on Sundays (and Tuesdays, which will also feature ice cream starting in May) and we'll be donating part of the day's beer sales to a dog-related charitable cause and anyway it's drinking in the beer garden for a good cause, so come on out!

And while we're talkin' about fun times, we might as well talk about some future fun times and the first such fun time is Band Hangouts! You probably already know the deal if you've looked at our blog more than once (since we've been shouting about this for like a month), but the deal is that on Friday, April 29th we're bringin' in a buncha people from some rad local bands (this time it's Worshipper and Z28 and Conclave and North Star the Wanderer) and they're gonna hang out and sell some merch and we'll play their music on the stereo and also we're releasing a beer that's a collab with one of the bands (though we're keeping those details mostly under our hats for now) and anyway it's gonna be fun!

And even farther into the future - May 5-7, to be precise - we're experimentin' with a series of events that we're callin' Dungeons & Drinks! Long story short, we're doin' up three days' worth of geek-themed good times - there's gonna be Star Wars trivia (on Thursday) and retro video games and collectibles (on Friday) and a D&D one-off and a buncha comic artists setting up merch tables (on Saturday) and also we'll have beer (duh) and some tasty food vendors and it's gonna be a damn good time and you should come check it out!

In Which We Go On and On

Well hello again! It just so happens we've got a whole mess of cool stuff lined up for y'all, so buckle up!

And this week's good times train starts off the way lots of good times do, and that's with new beer! Or, rather, the (slightly* revamped) rerelease of an old favorite! Anyway the point is that we once again brewed up our collaboration beer with Thomson Country Club: Out of Bounds! This lil' ol' west-coast-inspired IPA is the perfect treat after a day on the links, chippin' putts and drivin' bogeys, or whatever it is you do out on the ol' "gridiron" and most of this beer goes to get tapped at their clubhouse but we like it enough that we keep a little for ourselves and it's on tap right now and you should come have some!

Sadly, the City of Everett did not want us setting up a mini golf competition in the parking lot as part of the release party for this beer

And speaking of new/old beers, we've got another rerelease comin' atcha and that's On-On! We first brewed this beer a couple years ago because Ben is in a running club and they have some kind of running-themed event** at about this time every year, which had to get postponed for the past couple years. But anyway now that events are a thing again, so is this beer! It's nice 'n light and kinda hoppy and it's quite nice before/during/after a run and it'll be in cans on Friday!

And. AND. In addition to all those "reboots" of beers past, we've got a NEW new beer comin' out! You've heard us talk about this one a time or two already because it's a collab that we're completely jazzed about and that's Scatterbräu! This tasty lil' amber is our collab with the old-school brutal death metal band Scattered Remnants and it's tasty as heck and it's on tap and in cans on Friday and you should come drink some with us!

And since we're already talkin' about beer, we should probably mention this week's cask! This time around we took new(ish)-to-us taproom favorite*** Le Triumph and crammed it fulla super-fruity new-to-us Vista (the hop, not the outdated/underrated operating system) and we're tappin' that sucker up on Thursday and it's gonna be hella tasty so come have some!

And in case the cask doesn't entice you enough, we're also doin' our monthly Simpsons Trivia on Thursday and the theme this month is Season Four which is pretty rad because we're now getting into some of the best television that has ever been televised and we're pretty stoked to relive it in trivia form!

And we're keepin' that Fun Times Train rollin' on Friday with the return of Wicked Retro Night! We'll have a buncha consoles set up featuring all the best games from the Good Old Days (and they'll be set to free play mode to boot) and also Matilda's will be servin' up pastelitos all night and anyway it's gonna be a whole buncha fun!

And speaking of good times and/or good tastes, on Saturday we've got our friends from Just Wingin' It comin' by and slingin' wings and chicken sandwiches and a buncha other tasty treats and you should come on out and say hi!

And then of course on Sunday we're back to having our regularly scheduled sushi class in the house (we also host them on most Wednesdays if you're looking for a day that's a little less crowded) and those continue to be a delight, so we strongly recommend checking them out before it gets too hot to be in a crowded room full of raw fish!

Oh! And! Speaking of Sunday, this Sunday we're startin' up a recurring fundraiser in the beer garden and we're callin' it Barks and Brews! On Sundays and Tuesdays we're encouraging you to come out and bring your four-legged friends to the beer garden and we'll be donating a portion of our sales to a different rescue every month! For April we'll be raising money for Northeast Animal Shelter up in Salem, which is a great organization and also just so happens to be where we ("we" as in Liz and Jared) got our hot-dog-stealing goblin dog Rocky and anyway come on out and grab a beer for a good cause!

And movin' a little farther into the future, next Thursday (the 21st) we've got a new-to-us theme for trivia and that's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia! And while it turned out to be impractical for us to add milk steak to the taproom menu for the night, it's still gonna be a ton of fun, so grab yourself some pocket sausages and come hang out!

And lastly, we'd be remiss if we didn't drop yet another mention for the Band Hangouts event that we're having at the end of the month (Friday the 29th, to be precise)! We'll be bringin' in a buncha rad local bands - Conclave and North Star the Wanderer and Worshipper and Z28 - and we'll be playin' their tunes over the stereo and they'll hang out and sling merch and we'll be releasing a special beer and anyway if you want to hang out with a bunch of cool bands, this is your chance!

Howdy do, kids and squids! We've got a bunch more tasty beer and good times and treats in store for all y'all, so let's cut with the shuck and jive and get to it!

Speaking of treats, we just invested in some lovely ceramic coasters

And gettin' right into it right out the gate we've got another dang ol' new beer and that's NeverNude! We had us a hankerin' for some good ol' hoppy saison, so we grabbed up a whole bunch of a fruity-as-hell new-to-us hop (namely Triumph from our friends at Four Star Farms) and it's on draft right now and you should come drink some!

And while we're talkin' about new beers, it's also worth mentioning that we're re-releasing an old favorite! Yes indeedy, good ol' Wasted Life is back in the tanks and it's gonna be in cans hella soon (probably Friday) so if you missed this hard-to-describe-yet-deliciuous-as-hell lil' IPA then you're in luck because soon you'll be able to drink some!

And while we're on about beer and/or old favorites, we should probably talk about this week's cask! This time around we're gettin' back to basics and tappin' up a pin of Shut Up Kelly and it's gonna be on starting on Thursday and goin' until it kicks so come getcha some!

And if you're lookin' for something to do whilst you sip that dark and brooding cask (on Thursday FYI), we got us some trivia! This week it's Audio Triviality (our monthly music-themed trivia) and the focus is on stoner and doom metal! We (your humble bloggists) happen to fancy ourselves to be connoisseurs of stoner and/or doom metal despite the fact that we don't actually know what we're talking about, so we'll be there confidently failing and you should join us!

The prizes shall be wholesome and nice, and definitely not drug paraphernalia

And movin' on in to the weekend, we've got HotChix in the house on Friday bringin' their tasty-ass chicken sandwiches and Biscuitdrop is comin' by on Saturday and dishin' up delicious biscuit-related dishes (seriously, check out the buffalo biscuit bites or whatever they're called) and then as a change of pace on Sunday we're foregoing our usual sushi class (just for the week, don't worry) and hosting Sip & Script Calligraphy and it's gonna be hella fun and you should come!
