Oh hi there! Welcome back! We ain't got much time for chatter what with all the cool stuff we got to talk about, but we're glad to see you and we hope you like all these fun/tasty times we've set up! Tasty future times: our collab brew with Smuttynose (I know, right?) will be available in mid-October! Startin' off the fun/tasty times train is this week's Thursday cask: Callisto Table Beer! This light 'n bright quencher's already quite the tasty beverage, but we're of the mindset that most things are improved by adding more Idaho 7, so we added more Idaho 7! Peach. City. USA. Oh! And since it's been, like, days since we announced a bunch of new beers, we've got a bunch of new beers on the way! There's a bit of a recurring theme for these new beers (which are waiting for open draft lines before we can serve them, so for now I'll just be teasing you with pointless details), and that theme is "The Harvest. And/Or Sandwiches" - except it's not what you think because none of these beers are jammed full of pumpkins or sandwiches or whatever, and in one case the "harvest" in question is the very specific harvest of a bunch of melons that we used in that beer. Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for these here new beers! AHHAH-AH! Anyway, getting back to Thursday, we're doin' up Futurama Trivia once more! If you - like all of us - have been to trivia nights and felt like more of the questions should have been delivered in-character by the subject of the question, you're in luck! And if you don't think that, maybe you should? Movin' right along, we've got a Double Decker Tasty Time for all y'all on Friday - we got Speakeasy Donuts slingin' sweets and SourceFire Sauce is bringin' the heat! In other words, there's gonna be hot sauce flights and donuts abound! Our mission is to find the perfect donut : hot sauce ratio. And then on Saturday we're doin' up some Party Times with Deep Cuts! Remember all those new beers I mentioned several paragraphs ago? Well one of them was a collaboration brew with Deep Cuts and it's gettin' released on Saturday! Deep Cuts will be here with sandwiches and we're bringin' in Cannon Candles and maybe some other friends and we're gonna have a good time! Beer friends! Also on Saturday, except in the evening, we got our friends from Eat More, Mexican! comin' though with burritos! They're so good, you guys. Then on Sunday we're keepin' that party goin' with Plant Nite! (which, despite the name, starts at 2:00 PM). PlantAfternoon Also on Sunday we're doin' us a little pop-up beer garden at Barktoberfest in Winchester! If you want to drink beer on a farm whilst surrounded by dogs, this is probably definitely your best bet (unless you're friends with our HR person), so swing on by and say hi! There's a pretty good chance Jimbo's gon' end up taking home some dogs (not depending on whether or not she was given permission to take home said dogs). Oh! And! One more thing before you go! It's getting to be that spooktacular time of year (that time where we fill up our plastic taproom pumpkin with the worst kinds of off-brand candy), and we're kickin' off the month of October with Slasher Film Trivia next Tuesday! As an added bonus (and because they come up with the best themed names), our beer pals at Deep Cuts are slingin' spooktacular sandos for dinner!
Hello, friend. We've been expecting you. More to the point, we've got a full lineup this week and we expect you gon' enjoy, so read on! First up on the ol' Taste Radar, we've got the (very brief) return of a not-so-old favorite: Smaltster! Long story short, we had some set aside for a recent Village-themed festival of some sort but there's still some left and now you get to drink it with us! Party! And speaking of parties(?), this week's trusty weekly cask on is relatively-new-to-us Ganymede! And since we're all about alliteration around here, we jammed that sucker fulla glacier before lettin' it do its thing and become - dare I say it? - even tastier. If you wanna taste the sweet, sweet fruits of our collective labors, come on out on Thursday and get to tastin'! Also on Thursday we're doin' up another newish-to-us trivia and this one here is Back to School themed! So if you've finally gotten over all those recurring nightmares about being late for class and you want a bit of a "refresher" come on out and get trivial! Then on Friday we're venturin' out into the big wide world for Tavern Night with the Dedham Historical Society! In short, that means we're doin' it up mini-fest style at a museum, and said museum is gonna be pullin' out a buncha historical tavern signs for our viewing pleasure (which sounds pretty rad, honestly), and also there's probably music and food? Anyway, it sounded like a good time to us, so you should probably join us! Then on Saturday we got a hella busy day planned, and we're startin' it out the only(?) way we know how: with flower arranging! Thassright, Alice's Table is comin' out and teachin' up a storm about fall-themed flower arranging! Tickets are still available (and include a beer!), grab 'em here: Hues and Brews Movin' on to the tasty times on Saturday, we've got our friends from El Pelon with some tasty Mexican grub startin' at two! We've admittedly got a bit of a soft spot for these guys, but that's mostly because their food is delicious and you should probably come eat some! Also on Saturday, we've got a record (for us) number of offsite events we'll be reppin' at, should you be "out in the wild" on that particular day: We'll be pourin' our yet-to-be-released collab beer (that we made with Saltbox Kitchen) - a tasty lil' saison made with local honey and locally-grown melons - at the Great Mass Collab out in Worcester! We'll also be pourin' at the Cape Cod Brew Fest down on the Cape! These folks know how to throw a good fest, so you should definitely check it out if you're of a more southerly persuasion. And. AND. We (somehow) got invited to be a part of the collab-brew-slash-brewfest that Smuttynose is hosting for their 25th anniversary, which means we'll be at their digs brewin' beer and slingin' beer all day! This is honestly a pretty big honor for us - we've been drinkin' Smutty since we were knee-high and we're completely stoked as heck* that they wanted us to be a part of this day! * And maybe a little confused, but mostly stoked.
Hi friends! We're plowin' full-steam into that ol' "back to skool" season or whatever, which means we got us a week(end) loaded up with tasty and/or fun times, so let's get on with it! Firstly, we're gonna start off on a moderate down note and mention that we recently bid a tearful goodbye to the last remaining bit of Critters 3 on tap, which - for the time being - leaves us lacking funky beer on tap. But never you fear! We've still got (very small amounts of) bottles of all three Critters releases, and we're schemin' up some new funky good times to keep that series rollin', so keep them eyes peeled! And in brighter news, that there open draft line means we get to tap a new beer! This time around it's Ganymede, a hoppy amber made to celebrate the recent wedding of Taproom Friends Tricia and Eric! As an added bonus, this caramel-and-banana-forward amber was made as part of a pair, so in a few days we'll also be releasing its partner beer: a light 'n fruity lil' number called Callisto! And as an added added bonus, these two beers are made to be mixed into a greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts beertail that we're callin' The Eclipse! Come try all three! And speaking of things that are tasty and/or made to go together, we got cheese! This Wednesday (which is to say, today), we're pairin' up a buncha cheeses with a buncha our beers! This time around we're featuring some tasty treats from Robinson Farm out in Hardwick, and dang but they're completely tasty as heck! Movin' right along to our regularly-scheduled Thursday Cask on Thursday, we're tappin' up the house-favorite, soon-to-be-kicked-on-draft D 'n A! And since we were feelin' extra special nice the day we filled that ol' cask, we dumped in a big ol' bag o' El Dorado! We got a hunch that this is gonna be one mighty tasty cask, so come on and get while there's gettin' to be got! Also on Thursday we got more Simpsons Trivia! Our intrepid host for this particular trivia is above such, uh, trivial matters as "themes" so we'll just go ahead and say that the theme is "Hams, Steamed or Otherwise" and that will be that. Last up on the ol' agenda is Village Fest. If you ain't familiar, Village Fest is a street festival thrown by the city of Everett every year that features outdoor drinking plus some other bells and whistles like food trucks and bands and probably a giant inflatable slide. It's a fun time, but there's also a lot of complicated nonsense involved because like eight thousand people show up every year, so here's the deets as we know them:
* "Hello Cambridge! Has any of you been to The Middle East Night Club?"
** Yes, really. No, I don't know why. Well hi there! We'd like to extend a thank you to everyone who helped us go through a truly gross* amount of hot dogs this weekend, and we'd sure as heck like to keep the fun and/or tasty times rollin', so let's get this dang ol' party started! First on that docket is the third and (for now) final installment in our Critters triple release: Critters 3 - on tap right now! This time around it's a tart 'n funky lil' blackberry-and-peach number that managed to pick up just a whiff of vanilla from the barrel and dang but it is tasty! So fleeting, so delicious Speakin' of tasty beers, this week's Regularly Scheduled Thursday Cask is a ding dang doozer in the form of Organ Meats! And since we're of the strongish opinion that smoky beer doesn't need any help on cask** we're straight-up throwin' that sucker on in its birthday suit as god intended! Come drink some before all our brewers do! Oh! And! If y'all are extra special good and help us kick some beers (say, D 'n A or Benthic realm perhaps?), we've got a couple delicious drafts - plus a secret*** beertail - waitin' in the wings! So if you wanna be one of the "cool kids" and try all the "new stuff" before "anyone else," keep your eyes peeled for changes in that dang ol' draft list! Secret beers! Also on Thursday is this month's Audio Triviality! This month's theme is "Anatomy" which - given the strong heavy metal influence of this trivia night**** - is a little... unsettling, but we ain't been let down yet so let's get trivial! Cannibal Corpse? Five Finger Death Punch? Then on Saturday we've got Boston HotChix all up ins! You may have noticed that we're big fans of spicy foodstuffs around these here parts, and finding real-ass Nashville-style hot chicken has been something of a quest we've been on lo these past several years, so we've got Boston HotChix throwin' down that heat gauntlet from 6-10! The name's a bit questionable, but those sandwiches look legit. Movin' right on along, it's time for more cheese, so cheese you shall have! This time around we've got four cheeses from Robinson Farm in Hardwick, MA - expertly paired with four of our beers - and we're doin' pairing flights all day on Sunday and then again on Wednesday, so come on out and get cheesy with us! Cheese! Cheese! Cheese! Cheese! Then on Tuesday we've got Wicked Retro Games in the house for some, um, wicked retro games! More to the point, we're gonna be stockin' up on some olde-skool electronic fun times and settin' 'em up on Free Play Mode and y'all are invited to join us! And while we're on the subject of Fun, we ain't done chirpin' about our birthday bash just yet! More photos are in, and these are some quality snapshots! Everything about these And lastly but far from leastly, we picked out August's coloring contest winners! This month was a tougher-than-usual decision, which led to a higher-than-usual number of runners-up, but we couldn't not reward all this adequate work! Congrats to the lovely Ashley H. for taking home the gold with this under-the-sea masterpiece! Our adequate runners-up! * 144. (yes, it's a terrible joke, but we did actually go through a gross of hot dogs somehow)
** Except for that one time we added a bunch of pineapple juice and lactose. *** Considering how much we have been/will be shouting about it, "secret" might be a bit of a stretch. **** If it was all-encompassing music trivia, that would still raise an eyebrow or two, but also it would be kind of funny to answer like eleven questions pertaining to songs about butts. There are probably also heavy metal songs about butts out there, but we... we don't need to find out. |
