** Unsurprisingly, this hop is in Le Triumph as well.
Hello again! We've somehow managed to wrangle yet another week full of beer releases and fun times and casks and tasty eats, so check out all the cool stuff we got goin' on! Guess what, it's mostly beer related But first on up we wanna give a shoutout to everyone who came out for our first band hangout night! We got to listen to some great music and hang out with a buncha cool people and drink some hella tasty beer and also at least one of us* bought all the t shirts and anyway the point is that it was a ton of fun and we're right stoked for the next one (details here) where we're gonna get a bunch more bands and that one is also gonna be hella fun and you should come! We had so much fun we forgot to take any pictures, so please enjoy this promo graphic for April's band hangouts! And bringin' things back to the nearer future, this Thursday we're tappin' up a cask! This one is staff-favorite Extra Naked and we dry hopped it with a relatively** new-to-us hop: Triumph! And in addition to Triumph being a new-ish hop in general, it's also brand spankin' new to our favorite hop farm (Four Star, natch), so we're hella stoked to see what it's all about and you should maybe come check it out too! Cask! And speaking of beer, we've got new beer on tap! Right now! Or rather, we've got the return of a much-loved beer on tap, and that beer is Passion (Fruit) Project! If you love fruit and/or projects, this beer is sure to delight, but you ain't gotta take our word for it because you can see for yourself! It does taste as yellow as it looks But also, since we're talking about new beers, we've also got a real-ass brand-new beer! It's called Hop Wizard and it's on tap probably right now and it'll be in cans this weekend (probably Friday, unless something breaks)! As you may have guessed, this one is a hazy IPA and it features a buncha cool and super-fruity hops (namely Multihead and Comet and MI-grown Chinook and new-to-us Vista) and it's tasty as heck! It's downright magical. And looking a bit more towards the weekend, we've got some tasty food friends all up in the house, should you need somethin' to nosh on whilst you sip them suds - on Friday we've got The Nada Cart poppin' up in the taproom, and then on Saturday we've got Sandwich Boy back in the house, and then on Sunday we have our regularly-scheduled sushi class and anyway if that don't all sound like tasty times then I don't know what does. Nomz Oh! And! If you're lookin' for some fun times next Thursday (the 7th) and/or if you're a metalhead then come on out for April's installment of Audio Triviality! The theme for April is "Stoned & Doomed" and it's focused on psychedelic rock, sludge, doom metal, and stoner rock and we (your humble blog authors) might be of the (mistaken) impression that this month is the month we come in "not last place," so come on out and join us and/or watch us fail horribly! We definitely won't be hotboxing the cold room beforehand Also! It's the end of the month, which means we've got some coloring winners to announce. Congrats to our winner, Megan, and all our adequate runners up! Good jorb, everybody! * JARED.

Well hey there! We've got a blog fulla beery good times, including some new beers and some announcements for future beers and also probably some stuff that's only beer-related, so read on and check out all this cool stuff we're doin'! Current can fam, not mad about it But before we get to all that, we should probably mention once again that we're hiring! Yes indeedy, we're lookin' to bring on a couple full-time and part-time folks for front-of-house, so if you're lookin' to sling some beers, drop us a line! Come work with (some of) these people! Anyway. Back to beer. First out the gate, as we teased last week, we've got another* collab beer in the works! This time around we partnered up with the old-school brutal death metal band Scattered Remnants (who are playing shows again, BTW) and we're makin' a tasty-ass amber ale called Scatterbräu and it's gonna be in cans and on draft at some point in April and anyway we're completely stoked that we get to work with these guys! It has been too long since we had an amber on tap And speaking of tasty beer and/or collabs, we've got a cask this week! This time we took Boneheads (our collab with Heads Up Screenprinting) and dry hopped the crap out of it with some tropical-ass BRU-1 and it's gettin' tapped on Thursday and you should come have some! CAAAASSSSKKKKK But if you don't want to wait until Thursday to try some tasty new hoppy beers, we've got you covered! We just tapped Le Triumph - a pale ale brewed with orange peel and a heapin' helpin' of local hops (and also our Pink Boots release this year) and it's on tap right now and it's completely tasty as heck! Cheers from the women of Bone Up, and our pals from Small Change Beer! But wait! There's more! We also tapped a new IPA that we named Weird Moon for some reason! This tasty tipple features Masscade from our friends at Four Star Farms and Bergamot (the hop, not the fruit of the same nae) from our new friends at Hang Em High Hops and Azacca and it straight-up brings the citrus and it's also on tap right now and we predict you gon' enjoy! You ever think about the moon? It's weird, right? And if that weren't enough new beers for you, we've got more new beers for you! This Friday we're bringin' in folks from some bands we know (namely Glacier, Lesser Glow, and SEA) and they're gonna hang out and sling some merch and we're gonna listen to a buncha their tunes (over the taproom speakers, as we don't have space for a live show... yet) and to mark the occasion we're Officially Releasing another beer! This one's the barrel-aged version of the beer we brewed for Glacier a ways back (called No Light Ever, and the barrel-aged version is creatively titled Barrel-Aged No Light Ever) and it spent a good long while in some Summer Reserve barrels and it is downright tasty as heck and it's on tap and in bottles on Friday and you should come hang out and maybe drink some beer! We are so friggin stocked for this And if that weren't enough to entice you out here on Friday, we've also got HotChix in the house! You already know how good their food is (it's very good), so we ain't even gotta ramble too much on this one, which means we might as well mention that on Saturday we're bringin' in new-to-us Just Wingin' It and they'll be slingin' wings and sandwiches and all kinds of chicken-related tasty treats, so come on out and grab some eats! Eat the things, drink the beers * Several, actually, but we like to focus on one at a time around here on this ol' blog. Really give the spotlight to the cool people we get to work with, you know?
Howdy do! We've been hard at work gettin' our beer garden all spiffed up and ready for some much anticipated Warmer Times (it's still a work in progress, but it's startin' to look damn good if I do say so myself) and also we been brewin' up a storm for some beers to pair with said Warmer Times* and anyway let's get to it! Sadly, our "work in progress" beer garden still looks better than our neighbor's outdoor space most of the time. First on up is the return of Boneheads! This beer is a collaboration with Heads Up Screenprinting (who makes much of our merch), and we originally brewed it to help them celebrate their first full year of business... in late March of 2020. Anyway, we figured now might be a more appropriate time to give it a go, so we did just that and it's gonna be available in cans probably Friday (definitely Saturday) and it's a delightful lil' hoppy session beer and you should come try some! As our screenprinter likes to accidentally print, it's "cripsy AF" And speaking of delightful and lightly hoppy session beers, Extra Naked is back on draft! It was a rough couple days without it, but somehow we managed. Though the eye twitch that Jared seemed to acquire may never fully go away And speaking of beer, though this is more "teaser" than "announcement," but hot on the heels of our announcement of our collab with The Red Chord (which we talked about last week) we're excited to say that we've got another collab lined up with an old-school death metal band and we are just completely stoked as hell that it's happening! We gotta make sure the band is cool with us shouting about all the details before we shout about all the details, but anyway keep them eyes peeled! SO MANY COLLABS And movin' on into the here and/or now (which is to say the weekend), we got some delicious eats gettin' served up for y'all with Matilda's pastelitos on Friday, and Sandwich Boy on Saturday and our regularly-scheduled sushi class on (Sunday and also next Wednesday) and anyway the point is that there's tasty times ahead! Plus the weather's looking right proper for this weekend :) And! Lastly! Looking a little farther into the future, we gotta throw in a plug for the band hangouts that we're hosting next Friday, March 25th! We'll be bringin' in the folks from a handful of rad local bands (namely Glacier, Lesser Glow, and SEA) and they'll be hangin' out and slingin' merch and we'll listen to some music (though it's worth mentioning that we can't do a live music component for this) and also we're releasing a beer! The beer in question is Barrel-Aged No Light Ever, a dark 'n heavy imperial stout that spent the better part of a year resting in Summer Reserve barrels, and it's tasty as hell and it's gonna be a fun time so you should come hang out! It gon' be fun * You may have noticed that our menu has skewed darker and more barrel-aged in the past couple weeks. Long story short, we had an equipment issue about a month ago that jammed up the works a bit, and we're just now catching up (brewing is a multi-week process, so there's a delayed cause-and-effect situation at play). In other words, things will be back to normal soon, and we appreciate your patience.
Howdy friends! We've got a whole gaggle of good times lined up for all y'all so we ain't gonna waste no time gabbin' on - we gotta get to it! And then we're gonna go drink some Bone Up at the Sinclair! And first up on that ol' list is a newly-announced collab beer!* You may recall us recently announcing that we'd be participating in the Decibel Magazine Beer and Metal Fest, and you may also remember us teasing that there was a collab in the works for the fest, and anyway we'll be making a beer with/for The Red Chord! We're brewing up a red ale (which seems kind of obvious, but that'll also cut down on the number of times we get told "you guys should have brewed a red ale," which would happen approximately 5,000 times if we didn't make a red ale) and it's not gonna be out for a little while yet (the fest is in June) but we're nevertheless stoked as heck about it! Our brainstorming session with the band had a very special kind of energy And speaking of cool collabs, we're releasing a different cool collab beer at the end of the month! This time around we took No Light Ever (our collab beer with the band Glacier) and aged it in Summer Reserve barrels and it's coming out on Friday March 25th! You may have gotten a "sneak peek" at this beer if you came by for Kafka Day, and also you may have seen us shouting about it on the social medias on/around Kafka Day, but whatever, it's super tasty And since we're right stoked about that ol' beer release, we figured we'd take the opportunity to give it a proper release party (just like a real brewery!) and we figured it would be cool to have Glacier come hang out and we could listen to some of their music (on the taproom speakers, we don't have the space or the equipment to have them do a show) and we invited a couple other cool local bands (Lesser Glow and SEA) and they're also gonna come hang out and it's gonna be a great time and you should come hang out! This is the first of what we hope to be a monthly series of "band hangouts" with our collab peeps at the brewery! But getting a bit closer to the here and/or now and also back to delicious beers we drank on Kafka Day, we should probably give you the deets on the funky beer we released for Kafka Day and that's The Great Miscellaneous! This funky lil' treat is a blend of a buncha stuff that we had kickin' around in barrels for a while (average aging time is well over a year) and it's on tap and in bottles right now and you should drink some! It's tart and peachy and ever-so-drinkable! And moving on into the very near future, this Thursday we'll be tappin' another cask! This time we're revvin' the beer engine with one of our favorite beers (and one which happens to be otherwise sold out at the moment): Extra Naked! And since we like to dump a buncha hops in our casks, we dumped a buncha hops in it! For this particular cask we went with Triple Pearl - a relatively new-to-us hop that brings a lot of orangey flavors, backed by a solid earthiness and anyway it's fast becoming a favorite hop around here and it's gonna go real well with Extra Naked but you certainly ain't gotta take my word for it because you can come try it for your dang self! CAAAAAAASSSSSKKKKKK And if you're lookin' for something to do while you sip on that delicious-ass cask, we might humbly suggest that you join us for Simpsons Trivia this Thursday! We're startin' to get into some of the best parts of the show at this point (the theme is Season Three) and there'll be good times and friendship and silly prizes and all that fun stuff, so come on out! At the very least you'll be able to heckle Chris And then for the weekend (specifically Friday and Saturday) we're bringin' back our famous** Beer and Girl Scout Cookie Pairings! We did the legwork and came up with the perfect cookie pairings for all the beers on tap and soon you'll get to grab a flight and reap the benefits of our hard work! Do not miss barreled El Pulpo and the French toast cookies. It's the best thing I've eaten in 2022 thus far And since a weekend fulla sweets needs a bit of savory, we've got Biscuitdrop comin' by on Saturday afternoon! Their food is so good, you guys. There's really no other way to phrase it, it's just completely tasty as hell and you should probably come have some! GIVE ME BISCUITS Oh, and in case you "missed the memo" about our regular sushi classes on Wednesdays and Sundays (and it's unlikely that you missed that memo since we mention it every week), we've got regular sushi classes on Wednesdays and Sundays! Everyone that takes them has a great time and also the clock is kind of ticking on signing up for a class since we don't have air conditioning in that room*** (and you don't want to be making sushi with 20 strangers in a ninety degree smallish room) so if you've been thinking about signing up, now's the time! Plus the more people that sign up the more sample sushi Chef Harold makes and the more sample sushi leftovers we get everything is fine we're not addicted nothing to see here Oh! And! We are looking for some lovely folks to join our bartending team! We have full time and part time positions available starting in late March/early April, so if you like beer and have a sunny disposition shoot us (Liz and Jared) an email at info@boneup.beer with your resume, a few sentences about yourself, and why you’d like to work for our humble lil' brewery! * We've actually got a whole bunch of cool collab beers in the works, this one just happens to be both big and recently-announced.
** Did you know you can just brand things as being "famous" and nobody will stop you? Follow our blog for more inane marketing tips! *** We also don't have air conditioning anywhere else Well hey there! We're fast approachin' our favorite late-winter made-up holiday (and that holiday would be none other than Kafka Day), which also means we're fast approaching the time when you no longer have to hear us shout about Kafka Day every week, but that time is not now, so let's get on with it! But before we get into that ol' nitty and/or gritty, we best mention that this Thursday is the March installment of our monthly music-themed trivia: Audio Triviality! And this time around the theme is (somewhat perplexingly) zombies! We don't know what the night will have in store for us other than good times, but that's enough for us to go on, so come on out and join us! And then on Friday we've got the first day (out of two) of Kafka Day! And what is Kafka Day, you ask? Well, simply put, it's an excuse for us to tap a whole bunch of cool/rare/barrel-aged beer and bring in some tasty food vendors and hang out! We started this lil' celebration back in 2019 after our expansion was complete and we wanted to celebrate the fact that we'd made it through some surreal and honestly kind of nightmarish times. At the time we certainly didn't expect this to become a recurring thing, but... well, you get the idea. Anyway! We're bustin' out the ol' portable draft system and we're tappin' up a whole mess of cool stuff and we're releasing a new beer (and maybe, if we get our shit together, we'll be givin' y'all a sneak peek at a yet-to-be-announced beer that we're releasing later on) and we'll have Sandwich Boy dishin' up delicious fried chicken on Friday and Matilda's will be slingin' pastelitos on Saturday and Liz and Jared will be doing private/guided tastings both days and it's gonna be a whole mess o' fun and you should come hang out! And then! After Kafka Day winds to a close, we'll find ourselves launched into Mass Beer Week! And we've got a special flight focused on beers that feature ingredients sourced from Massachusetts and we've got (most of) a whole week of (arguably) beer-themed events lined up to celebrate! On Monday we'll be hosting beer-themed trivia and on Wednesday there's a neighborhood bar crawl and on Thursday we've got Simpsons Trivia (this time the theme is Season Three) and on Friday and Saturday we're bringin' back beer and Girl Scout Cookie pairings! Oh and also we're gonna be using/selling the sweet-ass Mass Beer Week glassware that we got from the Brewers Guild and anyway it's gonna be a fun week! Oh! And! Lastly! We've got a winner and some runners-up for February's coloring contest! It was honestly a really tough choice this month, with a lot of very adequate entries, but we managed to pick our winner nonetheless and here's the cream of the crop! |
