* Why yes, we ARE approaching our upcoming fifth birthday with all the fervor of a high-strung middle-schooler. What of it?
Howdy do, kiddaroos! We got some new beer comin' atcha and we got some more stuff about our birthday party that we're gonna shout about and also some non-beer tasty treats so let's get to it! IT BEGINS And first on that ol' list is new beer! Now that it's almost our Birthday Month* we're gonna start releasing some dang ol' birthday beers! Leading the charge is Vacant Throne, which we brewed for a band that's gracing our stage for the first time this year (but who you may well remember from a previous collab) and that band is Lesser Glow! They'll be providing some tunes on the first day of our three-day birthday celebration (which is to say Friday August 27th) but you ain't gotta wait until then to try their beer because it's gonna be on tap by or before this Friday! You know what pairs great with 75 and sunny? Beer and pierogi. And movin' right along into the weekend, this Saturday we've got our friends from Wild Fox Pierogi poppin' up from 2-6 so you should come out if you want some tasty eats! Just a coupla derps in shirts And! Lastly but not leastly, we got more anniversary merch in our grubby little paws! More to the point, our shirts (which were printed by our bud(s) over at Heads Up Screenprinting) are here and they're rad as hell! Check 'em out! Awww yis And much like we did with the mugs, we'll be firin' up preorders for shirts too, starting on soon (but not quite yet) so keep an eye out if you wanna make sure you get one!
* Why yes, we ARE approaching our upcoming fifth birthday with all the fervor of a high-strung middle-schooler. What of it? Pictured: pre-shennanigans BUBco family photo from our summer party this week. Oh, how we've multiplied over the years. Dang on a thang, we're back at it again! We've got at least* one new beer for all y'all and we've got some teasers for some sweet anniversary merch and probably some other stuff so let's get to it! We are approaching the phase of the Critters series where we get to meet people that can't read numerals. Exciting! First and/or foremost is Critters XIV! We brewed up a big ol' batch** of a funky ol' saison with the intention of using it in future funky blends but also we're fans of it as-is so we figured we'd tap a little bit and anyway it's on tap right now and it's hella tasty! El Dorado + Azacca + Ekuanot = good taste And speaking of hella tasty beers on tap right now, we've got our new pale ale El Azakuanot on tap! Right now! It's so good, you guys. Old man mugs! Get yer old man mugs! And since we're just over a month away from our birthday/anniversary party (which will be August 27th-29th and there will be tons of beer and music and food and good times and friendship and we still haven't worked out all the legal/liability issues with having a petting zoo but that *is* on our radar for the future) we figured we'd show you the rad merch that just came in! Check out these sweet mugs! We'll be sellin' (and fillin') these suckers at our party all weekend, but we're also puttin' 'em up for preorder in case you're the planning type and you wanna make sure*** you can get your grubby little paws on one! * It's entirely likely that there's more than one new beer and I'm just forgetting. Again.
** Nerdy side-note: we think this beer in particular is neat because we used Brett as the primary yeast, instead of fermenting with our regular ol' beer yeast and then adding Brett afterwards like we usually do. *** We probably won't run out? But you never know (or rather, we never seem to know until it's too later). Hello again! We're takin' a bit of a "breather" from rambling at length about our upcoming birthday party (which, for the uninitiated, will be taking place Friday August 27th through Sunday August 29th and it will have a ton of beer and bands and food and lots of laughs and good times and friendship and whathaveyou and anyway you should totally come because it'll be a good time) on account of how we were gonna release one of the band beers this week except it got "pushed back" by an "unknown amount of time" due to some "difficulties getting labels on time" (and we think it's more fun to keep the deets on the DL* until we release the beers) but anyway we must move forward and/or upward, so here goes! Gemma's daily visits to the taproom will proceed as planned. Firstly and most bummerly, the dog pool party that was originally scheduled for this Sunday has to be postponed. We ain't big on rescheduling at the last minute, but Harvey's Hope (the rescue that's running the event) had some sort of emergency and can't make it this weekend. So! If you were fixin' to come to that, mark your calendars for the new date of August 15! NEW HOODIE DAY IS GOOD DAY And! On a much more fun (though arguably less seasonally-appropriate) note, we've got new hoodies in stock (XS-2X)! We like to "mix things up" a bit every time we need to reorder hoodies, and this time we got pullovers with that sweet-ass Birthday Suit art on the back and they're a bit more "heavy duty" than some of our previous hoodies and anyway they're rad as hell and you should grab one!
* Spoiler alert: Blood Built and Organ Meats are unlikely to change. Ever. Well hey there, friends! We've got some fun beers to tell you about and some more details about our upcoming birthday celebration and maybe some stuff about an event that's happening a little sooner than our birthday, but first we gotta get to some news that we plum forgot about last week and that means... Priorities! Coloring is back! One of the things we've missed most about the (pre-pandemic) taproom is the monthly coloring contest. It brings us untold amounts of joy to see people getting excited about coloring and grabbing sheets and crayons at the bar and sometimes bringing in their own coloring supplies and getting really into it and then we get to see the Wall of Adequacy fill up with a bunch of cool art and oh man, it's really just one of our favorite things. And anyway it's back! Right now! Come color with us! Look at that happy little beverage And speaking of things that are available in the taproom right now, we've got a new beer on tap! It's a tasty lil' grisette called Merry Go Round that focuses on the hella-tasty-but-unfortunately-named hop Bitter Gold and dang but it is a treat! It's light 'n bright 'n fruity in all the right ways and a little hoppy but not too hoppy and anyway you should try it! And while we're goin' on about tasty new beers that are on draft, we've got another new beer gracin' our draft lines in the near-to-immediate future (as in, pretty much as soon as something kicks. We're lookin' at you, Out of Bounds) and that's El Azakuanot! And in an entirely uncharacteristic twist, this beer ain't got no story behind it. We've never used these ingredients in this combination before, but it's all stuff that we're at least passingly familiar with (El Dorado, Azacca, and Ekuanot layered on a base of local grains), and honestly this beer don't need no story because it's so dang tasty but you'll just have to wait and see for yourselves! He tried And moving on even further into the future, comin' up on Sunday July 18 we're partnerin' up with Harvey's Hope and doin' a doggie pool party out in the beer garden! We'll be cordoning off part of the beer garden (but it won't be fully fenced, so this is a "leashes required" kind of event) and puttin' out some kiddie pools (and trying our best to make sure non-dog-related tables are outside of the splash zone) and lettin' some pups have themselves a day; so come on out and give your furry friends some pool time! And, lastly but far from leastly, we've got more details on our upcoming birthday party! And since we got to the nitty gritty of the music* last week, we figured we'd use our time this week to talk about food! So, without further ado... I am ready to be handed so many grilled mystery meats On Friday Night (August 27th), also known as Punk/Metal Night, we'll be gettin' on down to the nitty gritty with a Brewer's Barbecue! And in more practical terms, that means we're bringin' in friend of the brewery who happens to be a truly excellent grillmaster and he's gonna be grillin' up burgers and dogs and a buncha tasty goodness! If you were at our party in 2019, you may remember him from the end-of-the-night "please just get all these drunk people to eat something" food session, and we liked his eats enough that this year we're givin' him the spotlight all evening on Friday! Hi, I'm here for it Then on Saturday (August 28th), we're bringin' in a new-to-us food popup that just so happens to be co-owned by one of our very own bartenders**, and that's Pizza Project! Pizza Project focuses on making tasty-ass sourdough pizzas and they're really just good as hell and we're pretty sure you're gonna enjoy the heck out of them! And, given that Saturday is often an all-day affair for some people, we're gonna be bringin' in some eats for the night and that'll probably be some form of grilled meats or whatever but we're still figurin' that part out so we'll let you know! Or we'll figure it out day of! Who knows! P.S. HUGE shoutout to Brato for making Best of Boston 2021!! And! Lastly! For the day when we'll all be feeling exceedingly spectacular after a weekend of beer and hot dogs and beer and pizza and beer and loud music (and maybe some beer), we're doin' up a chicken and waffles brunch (courtesy of our friends at Brato) all afternoon on Sunday (August 29th)! If there's anything that will soothe the savage beast raging within you on Sunday morning, it's gonna be fried chicken and one-to-six more beers and maybe some extra carbs and sugar on top. Trust us, we're professionals.
* It has been pointed out that there may have been some inaccuracies last week vis-a-vis the scheduling of the bands. It is worth pointing out that the author of this blog has a dim idea of what the actual plans are and maybe a bit of an imagination. If you need information that's "accurate," we suggest social media and/or other parts of this website. Maybe we should put a "for entertainment purposes only" disclaimer on the blog or something? Or maybe I should just look at the schedule before spoutin' my mouth off, but we all know that's not gonna happen. ** Hi Allie! |
