Then on Saturday we're bringin' in Speakeasy Donuts to tantalize your tastebuds with, um, donuts!
And lastly, cappin' off the weekend for brunch on Sunday we've got Brato back in for more chicken & waffles!
Well hello again! In case you hadn't heard us shoutin' about it for the past month or so, we're currently operating on Summer Hours which means we are (finally) open seven dang ol' days a week! And since this is the week after a long weekend anyway, you should probably just duck out of work early and come take advantage of all this patio weather (and/or come inside and hide from the rain)! And whether or not you decide to take that definitely-not-terrible advice, we got a whole buncha tasty treats lined up for y'all, so read on and see what we got for the gettin'! And while we're talkin' tasty, we've got a fresh batch of Out of Bounds and it's on tap right now! Much like the last batch, most of what we made is destined for the golf course, so if you're a fan (or if you think it might float your boat), come on and get while there's gettin' to be got! Speaking of Out of Bounds, this Thursday we'll be tappin' up a cask of that delicious lil' sucker - one which we "juiced up" with a fistful or two of brewer-favorite Idaho 7! Keepin' movin' on that ol' new beer train, we've got another pale ale that's gonna grace our menu this Friday: PRIDE! And since we made this beer to celebrate a cause that's much bigger than our tiny lil' brewery, we're doin' what we can to make it a whole thing what with the sweet tank tops and charity donations and cool stickers and raffles and tasty eats all weekend! And what of those tasty eats, you ask? First up on that ol' docket, on Friday, is our pals from Eat More, Mexican! Then on Saturday we're bringin' in Speakeasy Donuts to tantalize your tastebuds with, um, donuts! And lastly, cappin' off the weekend for brunch on Sunday we've got Brato back in for more chicken & waffles! Oh! And! We need to announce our coloring contest winners! Here they are! Our winner! The submission by "Steph's Roommate" didn't fit in the scanner, so here's a slightly grumpy dog for scale. Our runners up! Adequate work, everybody.
Hello again, fans and friends! We got another rockin' and/or rollin' week fulla new beers (with promises of even more new beers to come!) plus some tasty eats an' a heapin' helpin' o' some big ol' news! The big news is not that we have the best potato chips in the taproom now (but it is still news) And what of news, you ask? Well I'm glad you asked because as of next dang week (which is to say Memorial Day), we're switchin' to Summer Hours which means we'll be open every dang day! So for at least the duration of the summer, you can say goodbye to wandering in on a Monday expecting to order a tasty beer, only to find a locked door or (even worse) a startled and confused Jared who doesn't know how you got in! Anyway, more to the point, we'll also be extending our weekday closing times back to 11 for the summer so's we don't cut short any Patio Fun Times! Summer!!! Anyway, movin' on to the main event (beer), we've got a dang ol' solid selection comin' up for our cask on Thursday and that's Chaos Reigns! And in keeping with our loose "ingredients withbadass-sounding names" theme, we dry hopped it with, um, Mt. Rainier. Mountains are pretty metal, right? No? Whatever, it's gonna be hella tasty. And speaking of beer and/or tastes, this week we're puttin' our collab pants back on and brewin' up a batch with our pals from the Oceanaire! And since we seldom collab without a cause (with the exception of all those times we did exactly that), it behooves us to mention that we're makin' this beer for our upcoming beer dinner at the Oceanaire Seafood room on June 10th! We've gotten sneak peeks at the menu (and we may have sampled an appetizer or two of theirs during our "very important business meeting" that certainly wasn't a ploy on our part to get free shrimp), and we can say with some certainty that it gon' be delicious! Tickets are $80 and you should grab one right now: Bone Up Beer Dinner Bringin' it back to here and (closer to) now, this Saturday it's Tapas Time! We're bringin' T'ahpas 529 back in for some tasty treats! Tacos? Tacos! And if your tastes sway further (way further) away from the fancier foods, then we've got just the thing! In honor of the long weekend and/or the beginning of the grilling season, we're doin' $1 hot dogs (terms and conditions apply) all day Sunday and Monday! And since Memorial Day is actually about something and not just an excuse to grill meats for several days straight, if you show a military ID, your dog is on the house! (And about all that "fine print:" dollar dogs are only available with beer purchase, they can't be substituted for flight snacks, and these will be far more "Costco brand" than the fancy Brato ones we usually serve). We love hot dog season. Oh, and have we mentioned our sweet new hoodies? No? Oh, well we have sweet new hoodies! What do you mean it's too warm out? Nonsense. Everybody needs a hoodie! What else are you going to tie around your shoulders when you pretend that you eat caviar, watch polo, and know what "mutual funds" are? An ascot, maybe?
Howdy-do cats and kittens! We hope you've been enjoying all these sporadic Fake Springs we've been having* - there's nothin' quite like one nice day thrown into the middle of six rainy mudslogs to make you need a dang ol' beer, and it just so happens that we can scratch that itch! With beer! First up on that roster is Lawnchair! The return of this tasty lil' beauty is due in no small part to the concerted efforts of a rather enthusiastic beer buyer at one of our draft accounts (hi Kyle!), and we're right glad he persisted because we missed this beer! It's on tap right now, so come getcha some! Feel free to B.Y.O.L.C. And while we're talkin' about the latest changes to the ol' draft list, you may have noticed that we said a sad goodbye to Jeff this past weekend. We're bummed to see that one go, but we concocted a little big somethin' to help ease the pain, and if you're extra special good this week (or not, if we're being totally honest), we just might see fit to tap that sucker on up! (It'll most likely be on Friday, if you're the "first in line" sort) Also we have some more Out of Bounds in the house and that will go on tap at some point. Probably soon? Probably. Anyway, moving on and moving forward, this Thursday is Cask Day (as usual) and we're pretty durn stoked to say it's gonna be toasty caramelly ol' Dance Bob! So put on your best dance pants and get ready to drink some warm flat beer while you hide from the rain. Dance Bob! Then on Friday we've got our friends from Eat More, Mexican! comin' through and servin' up delicious tiny burritos all evening! Come get your snack on! Movin' on to Saturday, we've still got a few tickets left to the flower arranging class we're hosting with Alice's Table: Peonies and Pours on the Patio! Tickets are here: Peonies & Pours And as an added bonus, we're gonna have our buds from Buenas in here slingin' empanadas all day! Aside from the spinach and cheese variety we usually carry, they'll be descending with meat-stuffed goodies, gooey mac 'n cheese, and other delights for your tummy. Tasty times! And lastly, but certainly not leastly, we're hittin' something of a milestone this week! As of yesterday (5/14), we've been brewing beer at Bone Up for three whole years (!!!), and tomorrow we'll be brewing our 300th batch on our humble little brewhouse (stay tuned for details on the celebratory batch, rest assured it gon' be good). Thank you all for letting us do what we do, and continuing to support us and the little universe that has become Bone Up. Cheers. From the Chaos Reigns brewday, but you get the idea. * Springtime Lies, as it were.
Man oh man have we got a weekend jam-packed fulla good times for all y'all this weekend, so read on and read up 'cuz the gettin's gonna get good! Hello spring. I see you. First up - on Thursday - is our trusty cask, and we done trussed up a right trustworthy lil' number: Shut Up Kelly! And since we done had that on cask last week, we decided to "mix things up" a bit and "do something that's been hella tasty before" - namely add in a handful of oak chips that have been soaking in Grand Ten's Irish whiskey! The best kind of Thursday ritual. And to "sweeten the deal" on Thursday, it's Simpsons Trivia Night! It's a fun time in its own right, but also we feel like that dude in the "Nuke the Whales" shirt* has been sittin' pretty as Master of Trivia for too long now, and we think you are the one to put him in his dang ol' place. Moving on, we have got one hell of a Friday lined up for you guys. See, our new friends from Vaulted are putting out a new record, and they thought it would be cool to make a beer to go with that record, and that's where we come in. So. This Friday, we're hosting Vaulted and doing a record release kinda shindig and we're releasing that beer I just talked about (it's called Chaos Reigns, BTW) and there's gonna be a "listening party" whatever that means and there's frickin' rad t-shirts and just for (additional) laughs, we've got our pals from Brato comin' in with a shitton of spicy food! Oh, and if that weren't enough, Vaulted has the same affinity for "drinking for a cause" that we do, so $1 per pour of Chaos Reigns is getting donated to Trans Lifeline! So come on out and hang with metalheads and eat spicy food in our taproom, because that's definitely totally different than what it's normally like here! Beer! And keepin' the party rollin, this Saturday is Loretta Day! Who and/or what is Loretta, you ask? Well, let me tell you a long story about that! A little ways back, we made a ridiculous purple beer** using a whole buncha purple and/or red stuff, including but not limited to hibiscus. It was... kinda purple... I guess. Anyway there was a little hibiscus left, so we asked ourselves the logical question: "what if we used, like, way too much of this stuff in one beer?" And here's the answer to that question! And since we were still in our "let's make up Brand Characters™ to name beers after" phase, we named it after Horatio's heretofore-unknown Aunt Loretta and anyway you should come drink it! Bringer of patio goodtimes. Also, as a potentially odd footnote to that event, the city of Everett is also hosting its River Cleanup Day afterparty in our parking lot on Saturday, so pretty much everybody from City Hall will be eating hot dogs and drinking beer in our parking lot (and probably smoking cigars, knowing this town) for the first few hours of the day and also there will probably be a band on our patio. * Hi Crombie!
** I don't want to say "as a joke" because that implies we didn't take it seriously, but we did it as a joke because we didn't take it seriously. Hello friends! There's been some right-up joyous times around these here parts* and that puts us in the mood for some more joyfulness, and that can only mean one thing... DOG ...and that's Joybringer!** As you might have noticed by now, we got a soft spot for the classic Belgian styles around these here parts, so we originally brewed this lil' bruiser to commemorate the anniversary of our first ever brewday,*** and that anniversary is comin' up again so we're gettin' all kinds of Joyful startin' a bit early, to the tune of right now! Some good juice Anyway, as a counterpoint and/or complimentary offering, this Thursday we're tappin' a cask of tried-and-true taproom staple: Shut Up Kelly! She's about as true-to-style English as we're gonna get around here (which is to say, not very), which means she's a natural fit for the ol' beer engine and I daresay she ain't disappointed yet! No funny business, just deliciousness Also on Thursday we've got more music trivia fun times with Audio Triviality! I assume there's a theme this month (there usually is), but I forgot to ask and also he likes to be all cryptic about it anyway, so we'll just go on ahead and assume the theme is (somewhat topically) waffles and go about our collective days. Editor's note: the word is this month's theme is "Bad Music III" but I swear if I hear one Smashmouth song I'm gonna take away Matt's mic privileges Moving on and moving forward, we're gonna be slingin' beer out in the wild at not one, but two fests this weekend! One is Power Beer Fest in Boston, and the other is Craft Brew Races out in Worcester (both solidly run fests, by the way), so if you want to drink our beer 2oz. at a time, outside the cozy confines of our taproom (and possibly at an event that requires you to exercise first), come on out and say hi! It will be fun, they said And if you don't feel like straying too far from the taproom, some fresh new merch just landed this week and, well, here it is! Pride tanks! Plus matching stickers! Sweet enamel pins! Plus matching stickers! Oh! And! It's the start of a new month, which means Jimbo's gotta get her ass in gear and do you up a sweet new coloring page. It also means there's a coloring winner from April! Congrats to Gillian! Good jorb! Aaaaand our runners up! * We had ice cream and we got a dog and it's starting to be kinda sorta warm out sometimes...
** No, I wasn't friggin' talking about Loretta. That's next week, dammit. Let us have this. *** For those of you keeping score at home, it was May 14th |
