Speaking of fun stuff that's totally normal, this Thursday we're once again hosting our monthly music-themed trivia night: Audio Triviality! We still don't know the theme because Matt won't tell us but it's probably all about unicorn-focused death metal or something.
Well hey there! We're back at it once again with tasty casks and a new beer and some snacks and another new beer and also all the normal fun stuff! Speaking of fun stuff that's totally normal, this Thursday we're once again hosting our monthly music-themed trivia night: Audio Triviality! We still don't know the theme because Matt won't tell us but it's probably all about unicorn-focused death metal or something. All we were able to squeeze outta him was that it would be "bad music themed." Do with that information what you will, fellow metalheads. Anyway, we're also doin' it up normal-style with another cask of Shut Up Kelly! And since we're pretty big fans of tossin' liquor-soaked oak chips into our Kelly casks, we did that thing I just said! This time around we used chips from our jar o' Rock 'n' Rye - this is one we ain't never used before, so we're hella stoked to taste it! A thing of beauty. Backing up a bit, this Wednesday marks the first of two dang ol' beer releases this weekend! First on the docket is Nug - brewed with generous amounts of roasty-toasty Valley Malt and citrusy-earty Nugget hops from Four Star Farms, this easy-swiggin' amber is the perfect end-of-winter beer and oh-so-drinkable! Been sneakin' sips of this out of the tanks all week. And hot(ish) on the heels of that beer release, this Friday we're releasin' a new IPA: L.I.Z.! It's light 'n' bright 'n' fruity, just the way you like it - brewed with Legacy, Idaho 7, and Zeus, L.I.Z. is all about the hops with a fistful of caramel malt and oats thrown in for good measure! Come on out and give your tastebuds a treat! Unit L.I.Z. is programmed to bring you joy. You will delight in the sensations brought to you by L.I.Z. Also on Friday, we've got hand pies! New-to-us Matilda's Turnovers is rollin' in hot with a slew of tasty treats for y'all to eat - startin' at six and goin' strong until nine! We've got our eyes on the Cubano, but they'll also be bringing a veggie option and some sort of strawberry and nutella thang! The taproom is gonna smell amazing. Then on Saturday, in case you need more food-that-is-also-its-own-packaging, we've got our empanada pals Buenas comin' by from noon 'til four! In addition to their regular flavors you can get in the taproom all the dang time, they'll be pullin' out some special culinary concoctions just for the pop up, so come on by to say hello! Here's hopin' for more chicken bacon... And let's not forget February's coloring contest winners! Come on in and claim your prize! Hooray for our first place winner Amy K.! I promise we have new merch you don't already own. And a swell jorb to our lovely runners-up! And of course we'd be remiss if we didn't at least mention that nonsense that's currently goin' on out in our lobby: as some of you may well have noticed, our oddly-cavernous lobby up and sprouted a new wall a couple days back - a wall that would make it awfully... convenient for a certain brewery to expand, as it were. And we'd love to tell you that we are absolutely definitely getting more space, but (as you may know if you've been following this saga for any amount of time) things ain't move quickly around here and we've (repeatedly) learned our collective lesson vis-à-vis putting the cart before the horse, so we'll just say that we're Cautiously Optimistic at this time. If all goes well, we'll have some real news by this time next week - stay tuned, true believers! Yes, we also have some questions. No, they will not be answered.
Howdy do, cats and kittens! We're here to keep the Good Times Train rollin' and we got quite a lineup lined up for all y'all! First up is our trusty Thursday Cask, and this week we're bringin' back an old favorite: Shut Up Kelly! And this time around it's bolstered by another old favorite: oak chips that we been soakin' in triple sec from Short Path! Double favorite cask week! And after that, on Friday we've got Tamale Times! Mr. Tamole is gonna be back in the house and slingin' some tasty eats, so come on by and get your tamale on! But if your tastes run a bit more toward the sweeter side of the street, we've got Boston Bonbon comin' through this Saturday with tons of tasty macarons! And to sweeten the deal as it were, they're offerin' up the option to add an extra shot of ganache to your macarons! Lookin' forward to the future a bit, we're just shy of a week away from the next installment of our music-themed trivia: Audio Triviality! This time around the theme is a mystery because Matt hasn't told us what it is yet (which quite possibly means that he also doesn't know next month's theme). That's all for this week! Tune in next week when we prattle on excitedly about the several new beers we have comin' out in the near future, plus probably some other silly crap!
Hello again! We got us one a' them hollerday weekends comin' up (and if TV is any indicator, this particular holiday is Discount Mattress themed) which means we got us a jampacked lineup full of tasty beers and fun times and maybe even some treats thrown in for good measure! Speakin' of tasty beers: as you may have noticed, our draft list is slowly shifting from "begrudgingly accepting the realities of winter" over to "pretending that it's spring in the hopes that the weather will notice," which in this case means we're loadin' up on all things bright and crisp and refreshing! More to the point, this past weekend saw the quiet(ish) release of two new beers that we've been stoked on since they were but a twinkle in the eye and a shimmy in the mash paddle: Stag and Big deLICious! They grow up so fast... Stag's a pale ale made with Maine grains and Masscade - brewed especially for our friends up at Gulu Gulu Cafe up in Salem! It's on tap right now at our digs and at theirs, which really means you've got no excuse to not drink this beer. Staaaaaagggggg And for Big deLICious we teamed up with our friends down in Queens (specifically, Jon and Dom from Big aLICe) to make a hoppy farmhouse that's made to showcase grains from our neck o' the woods and theirs (because, y'know, we're so far apart and all). Anyway it lives up to its name, but you ain't gotta take our word for it nosiree because now you can come drink it! Tastes like friendship! And gettin' to the good times, we've got a new-to-us event goin' on this Thursday: Sip and Script Calligraphy! The name pretty much says it all (and provides the tacit suggestion that drinking might improve your handwriting), but it is worth mentioning that a) this is a ticketed, limited-capacity event (which nonetheless had a few spots available last time we checked), and 2) the taproom will otherwise be operating as normal during that time. That's gonna somewhat put the squeeze on table space for a little while, and you might be shushed during your weekly Full-Volume Zoidberg Impression Contest,* but more importantly it's gonna be fun as heck and you should probably just be a part of it. Speakin' of Thursday, we're also puttin' on the second - slightly different - cask of Stag! This time around we dry hopped it with New York-grown Cascade as opposed to Massachusetts-grown Cascade and we're gonna compare and contrast, which is honestly super exciting if you're kind of a dork about this sort of stuff. (Which we are.) Moving on, Friday brings the return of Spoko Pierogi and their delicious dishes - they'll be here from six PM until nine or until y'all completely devour their entire stock of food and they're forced to retreat back to their kitchen, whichever comes first! (Seriously though, you don't wanna miss these.) And on Sunday we've got relative newcomers Brato Kitchen comin' by with some brunch action for ya! From 12-3, they'll be slingin' sourdough French toast, blueberry crumble, chili maple chorizo, and more! The brunch game is strong with these two. Oh, and! We're open on Monday from 12-8pm for President's Day! Come say hey! Bonus round! *You know who you are.
Hello friends! Hello. We have a blog for you. Here it is. First things first, this Thursday we're gettin' these rad times rockin' and rollin' by tappin' a cask of a beer that ain't even made it to the draft list yet* - Stag! We ain't done this before, but we're stoked as all hell to get out to try Stag on cask (the way God intended) before we get to know the draft version! Ever heard The Bit? And what is Stag, you ask? It's a pale lil' pile of deliciousness that's just bursting with good flavors to be enjoyed by good people during good times. More to the point, when our friends over at Gulu Gulu Cafe asked us if we wanted to make an extra special beer just for them (and maybe ourselves I guess) we ran right out and gathered up a bunch of (Maine-grown) Blue Ox malt and a (smaller) bunch of (Massachusetts-grown) Four Star hops and mixed 'em all up in some way or another and now we have this! It's gonna be on tap at Gulu Gulu starting on Monday and it's gonna be on tap here as soon as we can tap it and it's gonna be on cask here (dry hopped with Massachusetts-grown Cascade) this Thursday and it's gonna be on cask here again (dry hopped with New York-grown Cascade) next Thursday! You could even say that we're throwing a "Stag party" but maybe you shouldn't. Semi-related: here is some Friendship Art that Jimbo done up for our pals at Gulu Gulu! Anyway! Moving forward! This Friday we've got the return of tamale friend - Mr. Tamole! He'll be serving up several delicious flavors like mole, green chili, pinto bean, sweet cocoa, and more startin' at 6PM! Corn husk treats? Corn husk treats! Then on Sunday we've got Union Square Donuts! We gots some ol' favorites like Sea Salt & Bourbon Caramel, Maple Bacon, and Boston Cream, plus fun seasonal flavors like Orange Cardamom and Vietnamese Coffee! Everybody loves donuts. *Unless y'all drink, like, a ton of Joybringer on Wednesday night.
