Hello again! We're trudgin' forth into that most spooktacular of months, and we got the good beers and good times to keep you good company as the temperature drops and the phrase "pumpkin spice" starts showing up in a lot of unexpected places (and also a lot of expected places, such as people complaining about all the pumpkin spice) and the leaves have one last disco party before they fall off the trees yet somehow mysteriously only end up in your neighbors yard and anyway it's friggin' fall! You can finally stop getting weird looks for drinking dark beer! And while we're ramblin' on about all things spooktacular, we wanna mention early and mention often that at the end of the month (Saturday October 26th, to be precise) we're doin' one last outdoor drinkin' event in the lot and we're havin' a dog costume contest! So bring your furry friends out and see if you can get them to go five whole minutes without destroying that super cute (and apparently very tasty, judging by all the chewing) bumblebee costume or whatever and maybe win a prize! We're not sure whose dog this is, but we like where their head's at. Anyway. Back to the here and now, we tapped several new beers over the weekend! Y'all already heard about Half the Time, but we also tapped up a completely different collab beer that also happens to feature large amounts of local honey and that ol' beer is Biere de Melons! See, we brought our beer friends from Saltbox Kitchen/Farm/Brewery over here and brewed up a tasty-ass saison with a buncha local honey and a bigger buncha locally-grown muskmelon* and dang but you should come drink some because it's on tap right now! Feel free to order it in a fancy voice. Also on tap right dang now is a different beer that was kinda-sorta made with Saltbox in mind - in the sense that we made it to serve at their upcoming Harvest Festival - and that beer is Champion of the Sun! We wanted to celebrate the harvest without gettin' all "pumpkin spice" on ya, so instead we grabbed up a buncha (local) grains from Valley Malt and (also local) hops from Four Star Farms and brewed up a tasty-ass pale ale! (AHHAH-AH!) And speaking of that harvest fest, there's a harvest fest at Saltbox Farm in Concord this Saturday! We'll be there pourin' some delicious delights and there'll be a buncha other breweries and some food and - even better - this fest is being thrown in conjunction with the Black Ale Project (who, as you may have noticed, are rad people and also friends of ours) so a portion of the proceeds goes to a veteran-related charity! So really, there's no reason not to come drink beer with us on a farm. The one time following the sheep might lead you to beer. But we're getting ahead of ourselves here, because we got a helluva lotta fun stuff happening before then, starting - as always - with our trusty Thursday cask and this week it's perennial cask favorite Extra Naked! And since we're pretty big on the whole "ain't broke, don't fix it" train, this here cask is hopped up with a heapin' helpin' of glacier! We've done this a time or two before and it is straight-up one of our favorite beers on cask and now you get to have some with us! Would recommend for these last few days of Patio Times. Also on Thursday is the Halloween edition of Audio Triviality! Expect a lot of songs featuring Danzig and some actually-thematically-appropriate-for-once stupid prizes and maybe some candy! Gummy severed hands, anyone? Movin' right on along to Saturday we got Boston HotChix all up in the house with some Nashville-style hot chicken! They do it right. Then on Sunday we're doin' it Old School with Wicked Retro Games and fillin' up our taproom with all them olde tyme consoles you remember so fondly, so come on out and put them hard-earned F-Zero skills to the test! It'll be just like when you were a kid, but you get to have a beer (or three)! Oh! And! It's a new month, which means new coloring contest winners! Adequate work, everybody! Our winner, Kelly K.! Three runners up! Good jorb, everybody! *We also had to look up what a "muskmelon" was and it turns out it's basically a fancy cantaloupe.
