Before we get into any of that jazz, we should start out with a brief note to all of you who have reached out about buying the taproom art (also, thank you to everyone who has reached out about buying the taproom art!): we are not selling the Dr. Orpheus painting. Enough of you have inquired about it that we feel the need to bring this up. It was a gift from a friend for our first anniversary - she also made the full-body Horatio and Henrietta plushies and did Jared's Horatio facepaint one year and also she's she unofficial third person who's not allowed to win the coloring contest because she would win too often and anyway if you're looking for some cool Venture Bros themed art you should probably holler and see if she does commissions.
Oh, and speaking of tasty beer, it's worth noting that our menu is gonna end up looking a little "it's still Horatio Day" for... a while. We've got a couple things going back on tap once kegs kick (specifically Three of Cups, Blue Manic, and Wasted Life) but also we're almost out of Extra Naked (get it while it lasts! Because it might not be here next week!) so it's gonna be more like a brief dalliance into "not having a menu that's entirely strong beer" before going back to all the barreled stuff and then there's a good chance there will be a nontrivial increase in funky beers somewhere in there but anyway we figured it might be worth to brace yourself or whatever (and yes, this is an unintended and unforeseen but not unwanted consequence of all the... everything that's happening right now).
And since the one thing we get asked for the least is "more trivia" we decided that Friday should have more trivia! This time around, Liz and Jared are hosting which definitely won't be a terrible idea and the trivia's all about Bone Up! We'll be dishin' up the brain busters about the best damn brewery around and there's gonna be some extra-special prizes* for the winners and we think it'll be hella fun - we've tried to make it so it won't be, like, completely incomprehensible to people who aren't here constantly (though we may not have the best perspective on what does/doesn't count as "esoteric" but we did at least try) - and also we've got Wild Fox Pierogi poppin' up in the taproom and it's gonna be fun as hell and you should come hang out!
Then on Saturday we're startin' off early with some Metal Yoga and then in the afternoon we've got our Krampusnacht Holiday Art Market! There's gonna be delightful offerings from Gate & Garden Herbal Apothecary, spooky ceramics by Clay Creep, Spicy Boy Jerky, and the horror/comic-inspired art of Theater of Creeps! We're also gonna have Seabiscuit poppin' up with a mess o' tasty pies, so come on out and drink some beer and support some local artists/artisans!
Then on Sunday we're hosting our last-ever sushi class with the delightful Chef Harold - it has been a genuine delight to work with him and we're sad to see him go, so if you see one of his classes elsewhere we definitely encourage you to check it out! And then pretty much right after that class we're closing early for our staff party.
** Given the popularity of the Hippo Hunt, a surprising number of people don't know about it on account of how we never post about it (so you only find out about it if it comes up in conversation with the bar staff). So if you're not in the loop, it's pretty simple: we've got a number (currently 23) of hippos hidden in our main taproom, and if you find them all you get a sticker! We used to have a much more reasonable number (like twelve) but things kind of spiralled out of control and people kept giving us hippos and now here we are.
*** We're mostly auctioning off the bigger stuff. If you're interested in any of the smaller pieces, drop us a line and make us an offer! Just please don't try to buy the Dr. O painting. We talked about this.
