In Which the Baby Monster is Unleashed

Hi friends! It's blog o'clock, so let's blog up some blog times all up in this blog!

And first up on the ol' docket, since this is the time of year when we're pretty much constantly releasing new beers, we've got another dang ol' new beer! This one is a collaboration with Crowfeeder and it's kinda-sorta not an anniversary beer only it totally is. See, they've got a new EP coming out soon* and they thought it would be cool to have a beer release to go with the music release, and we noticed the planned timing of the album release was rather... serendipitously close to our anniversary party so we grabbed that opportunity by the horns and told them that we just so happened to have a set open at our party** and they agreed to play, which is rad, and also they wanted their beer to be a session-strength smoked brown ale, which is also rad*** and anyway the beer is gonna be in cans on Friday and you should drink some!

But wait, there's more! Somehow. We've got another beer out that's kind of an "unofficial" anniversary beer and we made it more or less as a gift to ourselves and also maybe to pair with the "unofficial" band that's playing on the Thursday of our anniversary weekend (the 25th, for the uninitiated). Anyway, we don't entirely know what's gonna be going on musically that night (our sound guy pretty much asked for carte blanche to play whatever he wanted and we agreed without asking any follow-up questions), but the beer itself is... also a little mysterious, honestly. It's a blend of a funky brown with soursop (which, despite the name, is more mild/sweet than sour) and something that we're *pretty* sure is a wild ale with plums and honey, but also our notes for that particular component are lacking at best. Anyway, it's called Baby Monster and it's damn good and it's on tap right now and we'll be releasing it in bottles on Thursday 8/25 and you should try some! ​

PLEASE ask Jared about the stupid origin story of this beer name, it definitely doesn't involve raw chicken in any way

And speaking of our anniversary party, it behooves us forthwith to let y'all know that anniversary swag has started becoming available for preorder! ​

Currently you can preorder the duds (t shirts and tank tops, available in two color combos) and the mugs are available for preorder starting RIGHT NOW and also we put out some sweet shaker pints that are available right now (as in, we're using them in the taproom. No preorder necessary) and anyway if you wanna make sure you get your grubby little paws on some sweet merch then get your preorder on!

And since we're goin' on about the dang ol' anniversary party anyway, and since it's less than a dang month away we should probably talk about all the other cool shit that we're doing in addition to the bands and/or beers (though we *do* have another six beers that aren't out yet). Anyway, for those of you who are lookin' to get your grub on during the party, we've got a hella stacked lineup of food vendors throughout the weekend! On Thursday (the 25th) we've got Tres Latinas comin' by with arepas and other Venezuelan food, then on Friday (the 26th) we're bringin' back Bonetown Burgers because they were our food vendor on Day Friggin' One and then on Saturday (the 27th) we're packin' in lotsa options in order to make sure nobody goes hungry, with Matilda's Pastelitos and El Pelon Taco Cart in the afternoon and The 'Nada Cart in the PM and then on Sunday (the 28th) we're finishing strong with Lala's Neopolitan-ish pizza! Anyway the point is that if you don't eat well that weekend, it sure as hell ain't our fault. ​

And don't forget hot sauce pop ups on Friday, 8/26, the glorious return of live screen printing on Saturday 8/27 and our first ever vinyl pop up shop on Sunday 8/28!

Oh crap I got so excited talking about the anniversary that I forgot about the cool stuff that we've got goin' on this week! First on up, on Thursday, is this month's installment of our monthly music trivia: Audio Triviality! The theme this month is "Cops 'n Robbers" and it definitely took us a minute to figure out how in heck that might relate to music trivia so we prodded our host for any "actual information" (which he is generally reluctant to divulge) and here's what we got: "the theme includes songs relating to committing crimes, getting busted, and general disdain of the treatment from police and the government. From Johnny Cash to Black Flag, NWA to Rage Against the Machine" and anyway that actually makes a whole lotta sense and we're gonna do our damnedest to get some points up on that scoreboard and you should come join us!

And then for the weekend itself, on Saturday we've got Biscuitdrop comin' by and servin' up some delicious-ass biscuit-themed dishes and you should come eat some!
