And the first item of the day is even more anniversary beers! What a twist, right? This week we're talkin' about a hoppy session ale called Ad Nauseam that we brewed for a late addition to the fest: Stryga! As for why they're a late addition, one of the other bands* had to bow out because of Reasons (they probably told us what those reasons were, but you know how it is) and our pals in Stryga jumped onboard ready to rock! Anyway the beer's gonna be in cans tomorrow and it's tasty as heck!

And speaking of anniversary beers, there's more anniversary beers! Of course there are! We're gettin' kinda "close to the wire" or whatever, so it's time to start introducing the fancy shit! And today's particular fanciful flight of funk is a beer made to pair with the sounds of DnA's Evolution and we're calling it Welcome to the Bad Future! These guys have been playing at our party for years and years and we've made a handful of different beers for them and then last year we blended up a funky beer for them and it sold out faster than any beer we've ever released. We're talking a span of hours, here. Coincidence? Absolutely! But that doesn't mean we're not gonna do it again, so we did it again! This lil' beer is a blend of several different wild ales, prominently featuring beers fermented with mango and it's light and crisp and kinda funky and a lil' tart and delicious as heck and it's gonna be on tap and in bottles starting on Saturday, 8/27 and you should drink some while you can!
The name? Also coincidence. But quite topical
And speaking of fancy beer and/or revisiting ideas from last year, we might as well talk about Dark Humor! For this we'll need to take a bit of a trip down Memory Lane - at last year's anniversary show, SkyTigers was an extremely last-minute addition to the setlist because one of the bands got covid or something. If memory serves, we didn't get in touch with them until Wednesday and the show was on Friday, which means there was no way in heck we were gonna be able to brew a beer for them. We came up with a beertail and gave them an IOU on the beer and set a time to meet with them in the fall so we could discuss details.**
Anyway, in addition to giving us some of the most unusable beer names of all time,*** they told us they wanted a pumpkin stout so they could "take fall back from white girls." And while that is sound logic, we were faced with the prospect of releasing a pumpkin beer in November, to which we told them an extremely reasonable "fuck no" before finding a compromise (which was Dark Humor, the vanilla-cinnamon stout we released last year). BUT, what we've (mostly) managed to keep under our hats until now is that we saved part of that batch and aged it in a rum barrel so that we could brew a pumpkin**** stout this year and have it be a ridiculous rum-barrel-pumpkin-stout monstrosity and that's exactly what we did do and it's gonna be in bottles and on draft Friday, 8/26 and we're actually pretty proud of the end result and you should have some!

And since we're talkin' about the anniversary and also we're only a dang ol' WEEK away from the festivites, we figured this would be a good time to run through the music lineup for the weekend!
On Thursday (the 25th) it's not necessarily a "band" per se (though it might be? Unclear), because this is the night when our sound guy (who is a skilled musician, by the way. He's not just, like, some guy) is takin' the stage and doin' whatever he feels like (which may or may not include bringing other musicians onstage) and anyway we're expecting it to be a good time (paired with: Baby Monster sour brown)!

Then on Friday (the 26th) we're gonna start featuring "bands" that have "names" instead of "some guy" and we're kickin' things off with the punkish stylings of The Guilloteenagers (paired with: Don't Go session IPA), followed by some eardrum-destroying hardcore/post-punk from Blood Built Empire***** (paired with: Blood Built dry stout) and then we're slowin' things down and gettin' hella heavy with Lesser Glow (paired with: I am the Island IPA) and we're cappin' off the night with Worshipper (paired with: Mirage Daze barrel-aged farmhouse)!

And then on Saturday (the 27th) we're shakin' off the dust and doin' it all over again and doin' it harder because that's what this weekend is all about and anyway we're startin' off with some garage rock courtesy of Organ Meats (paired with: Stick the Landing mild ale), then we're detouring to surf towne with The Weisstronauts (paired with: Seven X's ESB) before we start to ramp things up with DnA's Evolution (paired with: Welcome to the Bad Future wild saison) and things'll keep rampin' up with Benthic Realm playing next (paired with: Where Serpents Dwell west coast IPA) and then we'll probably start to piss off our neighbors a bit with our crust punk friends in Stryga (paired with: Ad Nauseam hoppy session ale) and then if that didn't piss off our neighbors then SkyTigers definitely will (paired with: Dark Humor barrel-aged pumpkin stout) and we're cappin' the night off with some "cigarette metal" from Crowfeeder (paired with: Bird Bath smoked brown)!

But wait! We've still got a helluva setlist on Sunday (the 28th) which starts with Sunken City (paired with: Float Along kiwi grisette) who's gonna ease us into the afternoon with some smooth tunes before we get into some stoner rock with Blue Manic (paired with: Blue Manic spruce tip pale ale) and then even more music from DnA's Evolution (paired with: Welcome to the Bad Future wild saison, because we couldn't make two beers for them) and then we've got a pair of newcomers to the stage starting with North Star the Wanderer (paired with: Man Overboard barrel-aged dark strong ale) and lastly everybody's in for a real treat with power violence band Sexless Marriage (paired with: Nameless Wave double IPA) and there's a good chance they might clear out part of the beer garden but we'll still be there rockin' the hell out and we hope you will be too!
Phew. Dang, that was kind of a lot. Sorry, we get excited.
And speaking of getting excited, we're pretty damn excited about the cool stuff we've got going on this week even though we kind of got sidetracked before getting there and anyway very importantly we've got Bill and Ted trivia tonight (Wednesday)! We're gonna get trivial on the adventures and/or journey those Wyld Stallyns have had (excellent, bogus, or otherwise) and we hope you'll join us!

And then on Saturday we're teamin' up with Red Dog Pet Resort & Spa for a dog pool party from 12-3pm! And in order to make it a real party we've got a whole buncha dog-related vendors comin' by (namely Goodboy Wear, The Pet Snackery, Pezz Pets, and The Rainbow Bridge Medium) and also Tubb’s Doughnuts will be providing some people donuts (and also some dog donuts!) and it's gonna be a great time for our furry friends and/or their owners and/or anybody who wants to watch a bunch of dogs splash around in a pool, so come on by!

** For logistical reasons, we don't usually give bands much of a say in what their anniversary beer will be (unlike how we normally do band collabs), mostly in the interest of avoiding a weird/lopsided menu day-of. But since this wasn't a real anniversary beer, we figured it made sense to play it like a real collab.

**** It was "brewed with pumpkin" in the sense that there was, in fact, some pumpkin in the room when we brewed it. We were gonna carry around a pumpkin during brewday, but it turns out those are hard to find in July.
