In Which We Round FIVE FRIGGIN' YEARS!

Well hello! Welcome back! We had absolutely the most* fun at our birthday party this past weekend and we're gonna make you look at a whole shitload of pictures while we get all misty-eyed about friendship or whatever, because that's what we do around here, but first we gotta announce an announcement...

The best crew around (even if Bryan doesn't technically work here anymore)!

...which is that we're hiring! Yes indeedy, we're lookin' for a few fine folks for some front-of-house fun, so if you're lookin' to sling some brews with the best-ever crew then drop us a line! And movin' forward into lookin' back, we'd like to thank all of y'all who made it out to our birthday party! In many ways, it was a weekend full of firsts: it was our first-ever multi-day party, it was the first time we ever had a friggin' mosh pit form while a band was playing, it was the first (and second, actually) time that we had an ice cream truck show up unannounced to try and get that sweet "tipsy people" business (which is a practice we wholeheartedly support), it was the first time we've seen two grown men chug an entire bottle of hot sauce on stage (while in the middle of their set, no less), it was the first time that we've managed to sell out of a beer the weekend we released it,** and it was the first time that Liz got called up on stage to sing!

SATURDAAAYYY!

But even with all of those firsts, it felt much more like a comfortable return to the familiar. We got to see a ton of friends over the weekend - some who we've known for years, some who we're just getting to know, and some who we don't nearly get to see often enough. And to pair with all that friendship, we got to hear a bunch of incredible performances from a handful of excellent bands - some of whom we've known for years, some of whom were new to our stage, and one that was kind of both.***

SUNDAY!!

​And, of course, to add to all that wonderfulness, we brought in a bunch of our favorite vendors so you could have a buncha tasty food and cool swag and hot sauce (which is sort of both of those things? I guess?) and anyway the point is that we got to spend the weekend surrounded by our favorite people, many of whom make some of our favorite things/sounds/foods, and our amazing staff performed a series of miracles to keep everything running smoothly and we couldn't possibly be happier that all of these great people have been a part of our lives for the past five years. Our weird little brewery has had an interesting half-decade to say the least, but there's nothing else we'd rather be doing and we couldn't think of a better group of people to share it with, so thank you. Thank you for being you, and thank you for helping us do what we do.

It's goodnight, not goodbye.

On a semi-related note, we feel that birthdays**** are a time to look back and reëvaluate. We've been doing a lot of thinking about our Core Lineup and we've been doing a fair bit of (research-related) drinking and some drinking-related thinking and anyway we figured it was worth mentioning to y'all that we'll be saying (temporary) goodbyes to Key Lime and Wasted Life.

We'll get into the nitty-gritty and a tearful goodbye and all that in a future blog post (because we've already written a novel here and we haven't even gotten to the upcoming events yet) but the fact of the matter is that things have changed a lot in five years so we're switchin' things up and puttin' them two beers on "rotational seasonal" status. We've got some big plans, but the point is that what we've got on hand is all we'll have for a while, so say your goodbyes now if you got some goodbyes to say!

Let's! Get! Trivial!

Anyway, movin' back to present times and positive vibes, this week brings us the return of Audio Triviality! Thassright, this Thursday we're bringin' Matt back in to bring you the brain busters and/or give you a live demonstration of what it's like to come back to public speaking for the first time in eighteen months! The theme for September is "pandemic"  and we have most likely lost or broken or eaten our entire stash of shitty trivia prizes but that hardly matters because we'll be gettin' trivial!

Oh yes

And speaking of things that are coming back on Thursday, we're tappin' a cask on Thursday! More to the point, we'll be tappin' a cask of Organ Meats because we thought that would be a fitting pairing for trivia and also that's the only cask we have right now (cask will eventually be back on the once-per-week schedule, but it'll happen in fits and spurts for a little while). Anyway this year's rendition of Organ Meats is gonna be mighty tasty on cask but you ain't gotta take our word for it because you should come getcha some!

And. AND. Since we're talkin' about all the cool stuff what we got goin' on (and, more to the point, cool stuff that's coming back), it behooves us to mention that we're bringin' in some popups to sling some tasty treats for all y'all on Saturday and Sunday!

AND. Lastly but far from leastly, we've got August's coloring contest winners! We had an above-average turnout this month in terms of both volume and quality, which made it particularly difficult to decide (and which resulted in a lot of runners-up), but we think we found the most adequate of the bunch and here they are!

* Except for maybe the guy that went so hard in the mosh pit that he lost his shoe. He might have had more fun than pretty much anybody. 
** Said beer was, incidentally, made for the band that chugged the hot sauce on stage. They earned that shit. 
*** We've known several of the people in The Guilloteenagers for years, but this was the first year they played at the party and it's really everyone's loss that they didn't make it onto the roster sooner.
**** And ends-of-years and milestone batches and double coupon days at the grocery store and... we introspect a lot, okay?
