Viva El Pulpo!

Ahoy there! We're settin' sail into a new week full of good times and/or tastes and/or whathaveyou and we'd like to offer you a seat aboard the S.S. I Don't Feel Like Continuing This Metaphor Anymore where we'll detail in various amounts of detail the fact that we are Gettin' Real about The Holiday Season. Mostly that means a whole mess of beer releases (including some upcoming barrel-aged stuff. So, so much barrel-aged stuff), but also we've got ever so much fun stuff lined up for you, so read on!

It's quite delicious, if we do say so ourselves!

First up! Remember those two about-to-be-released beers I mentioned last week? Awkward Conversation and The Horned Beast? Well, we released them! They're both available on draft and in cans right now and since these beers are (arguably) holiday(s) themed that means that our Thanksgiving Mixed Pack (which I also mentioned last week, albeit briefly) will be available very soon (as in, pretty much right after El Pulpo gets released) and my point is that we made a bunch of cool stuff and you should try it!

Movin' right on along into other things that are good, this Thursday we're tappin' a cask of a new taproom favorite (which was brewed so we could say a proper Goodbye Forever to an old favorite of a hop) and that's Rakau! We didn't dry hop it with Rakau because we used all of our Rakau making the beer itself and I'm not entirely sure what we did dry hop it with because SOMEbody* didn't write it down and I don't feel like getting up to check so it'll be a mystery until we tap it but you can bet that it's gonna be good!

And speaking of Thursday, this Thursday is Simpsons Trivia! This time around, Chris had the extremely clever idea to have the theme be "Season Eleven" because Thursday's date is 11/11 and anyway that's gonna prove to be an interesting time because that's the season when the show starts to go completely off the rails but hasn't hit its full-on "descent into madness" stages yet and I'm rambling but I guess the point is that it's gonna be fun and you should come!

Anyone's guess as to what horrible prizes Jared will pull out of the box this week!

And while we're on about fun things that you should come to, this weekend is Pulpo Day! Starting on Friday we're releasing our beloved winter seasonal - a chocolate orange imperial stout that goes by the name of El Pulpo - and we're puttin' on some ballyhoo to celebrate! This year's version of El Pulpo will be available on tap and in cans and in crowlers and growlers and we'll have this year's barrel-aged El Pulpo (aged in Wigle rye barrels) on tap and in bottles and we'll be tapping some cellared vintages of El Pulpo (both barrel-aged and otherwise) and we'll have some limited bottles of those vintages as well and it's gonna be a good time and you should come!

We haven't *not* been dipping into the stash all week... just to make sure it's good...

And since we've gotten into the habit of taking our fake holidays and stretching them into several-day affairs, the Pulpo Day festivities continue into Saturday! It's pretty much the same deal on Saturday what with all the cool cellared beers available on tap and/or in bottles, only we'll also have food (courtesy of the Nada Cart)! 

And since it's apparently not enough for us to have a days-long fake holiday this weekend, we've also got some largely-unrelated events happening! ​

Pulpo Time! And some other stuff!

First up, on Saturday at 10:30 in the dang morning is goth yoga! We're bringin' in a new-to-us yoga teacher who'll be leading you through some yoga while you listen to Depeche Mode and The Cure! And then afterwards you can hang out and drink some beers while listening to music that is almost definitely not going to be Depeche Mode or The Cure unless Matt figures out the password to our taproom radio again. 

And then on Saturday evening we're gonna be part of the first virtual event that we've done in a good long while but it's for a good cause and that cause is the Hartshorne House! We'll be leading you through some beer and cheese pairings (more to the point, the beers will be that Thanksgiving Mixed Pack I mentioned earlier, minus the optional bottle of Squash Everything) and there'll be some local historical tales (provided by somebody who actually knows history, not by us) and if that sounds like your cuppa tea you should join us!

Moving right along through the weekend and beyond, we've got more cooking classes on the schedule since y'all seem to be diggin' 'em! Sushi making is back on Sunday and also next Wednesday and Ten Types of Handmade Pasta is in the house on Tuesday and there's probably definitely more after that but we try to keep things more-or-less focused on the "here and now" in this ol' blog so that's it for now!

But since we *are* rambling on a bit about Future Times, it behooves us to bring up our upcoming Funksgiving beer dinner next Friday with Brato! We'll be doing an in-person dinner with an a la carte-style Thanksgiving-themed food menu and a paired flight (which - you guessed it - is based off of our Thanksgiving Mixed Pack), or if you wanna have your pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving dinner at home you can preorder the food as a meal kit which comes with the same beers, only in can/bottle form this time!

And if we're peerin' even farther into the future we'll see a sneak peek of all those barrel-aged beer releases I talked about! We've got a whole pile of cool beer releases (including the return of some old favorites) scheduled for the day that everyone loves to hate: Shitty Wednesday! Many peoples' Thanksgiving plans involve sitting in traffic for hours on end on this particular Wednesday (which is often followed by the totally-not-uncomfortable experience of going to a bar in your hometown and seeing a bunch of people you went to high school with, only to be immediately reminded of why you didn't keep in touch in the first place) so we figured we'd give y'all a little something to brighten your day and that means bottles! I'll save the full release schedule for next time, since this is pretty much the world's longest teaser, so keep them eyes peeled!
