Brace yourselves, kids! We've actually got some news for once! Our first kegs are going on tap at Maverick Marketplace Cafe this Thursday (June 9)! And since this is a fairly momentous occasion, it's gonna be a bit of a Thing - the kegs are getting tapped at 7:30, and we'll be there to awkwardly hang out and/or talk about our beer! (You should be able to spot us pretty readily - we'll be the ones grinning ear to ear while simultaneously praying that nothing goes wrong. Or you can just look for the people decked out in the most possible Bone Up swag). What's more - there will be live music (which is actually a coincidence, but we can pretend it's all for us), freshly tapped cask ale (made by some non-Bone-Up brewery), and a bunch of other local beers on tap. You should come out, it'll be a fun time! (And we do apologize for the short notice - we didn't want to make any announcements until this was a Sure Thing, and we ran into some problems with the laws of physics** when getting the beer ready.) Jimbo got so excited designing the launch poster she fell off her chair. And, for those of you who might be new around here and/or don't feel like looking through past blog posts to figure out what the hell beer we're gonna tap*** - it's Honey 'n' Hops Summer IPA! Rolling in at a respectable but drinkable 5.9% ABV and 52 IBU, Honey 'n' Hops Summer IPA is a light-bodied, delightfully uncomplicated ale. We add a whole bunch of honey in at the end of the boil, then dry hop the bejeezus out of it for a nice fresh pineapple aroma. It's perfect for kicking back a pint (or four) on a warm summer day! Two tired brewers who have never deserved a beer more. We'd also like to mention how friggin' stoked we are that our first location is a place that fits so well with what we're all about: Maverick Cafe is focused on fresh local beer and food, fun times, and cozy digs. They've been a delight to work with so far and we're looking forward to building a relationship where we can both support and benefit each other. (Sorry, it's been a heck of a week and we're just gettin' all kinds of sentimental about this wonderful, welcoming industry we're entering.) In other news, we've been keepin' on keepin' on; brewin' and fermentin' and keggin' away! This past week we brewed Warehouse, our Farmhouse ale, and kegged up Bone Smasher Session IPA. This Friday, Black Witow is gettin' suited up in kegs as well. Yessiree, things are rollin' along like we're a Real Brewery! And, if you didn't hear us shouting it from the social media rooftops, we had a great visit and subsequent writeup from our friends over at BostInno this past week! We let 'em snap a sneak preview at our mostly-complete taproom that's just itchin' to open up for you (we'll probably get all the fermentors out of it before then): Photo courtesy of Alex Weaver * It also may or may not be time to get ill.
